Darnel is a planner, researcher and community advocate breaking down barriers to affordable housing and practical mobility. Mr. Harris worked as the Neighbourhood Land Trust’s Operations Manager starting in 2019, overseeing the Land Trust’s operations planning, governance, and strategic engagement, and played a critical role in the Land Trust’s successful bid to transfer 82 single family homes from the Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) to the Neighbourhood Land Trust in 2022. Darnel researches and advocates for micromobility as a Visiting Scholar at York University’s CITY Institute, and the Executive Director of Our Greenway Conservancy. His advocacy, programming and research has been recognized by York University, Canadian Urban Institute and the German Government for his commitment to sustainability, equity and equal opportunity for racialized communities.
