Jaimy Fischer

Jaimy Fischer is a Red River Métis health geographer, GIScientist, and knowledge mobilizer. Before becoming an academic, she worked as a bicycle mechanic, an experience that continues to shape her commitment to making cycling a safe, accessible, and everyday option for all. She has over ten years of experience researching cycling infrastructure policy and investments, and analyzing data and tools used to evaluate ridership, safety, and access in Canadian cities.

Her work engages intersectoral partners to examine the health and equity impacts of active transportation and to strengthen Indigenous inclusion and access to urban trails, positioning cycling as one pathway to reconciliation. Jaimy is a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Victoria.
